Matters of the Heart

Art, Leticia's Wonderings

I imagine we would all wish for our world to be a better place in which kindness is spread far and near. Recently while on a retreat in Tucson, I was walking and came across some simple art installations that encourage those who pass by to spread kindness and love.

At this kindness tree you could choose from a number of possibilities including leaving a decorated rock or taking a decorated rock.

Nearby there was a wire fence inviting passers by to tie a ribbon and make a wish.

In an area under development, there was a community labyrinth.

At this art installation people are encouraged to leave decorated rocks, but not to take them away. Here are a few up close.

Another heart oriented display was a metal heart where people leave a lock and deposit the key in the container below. Messages were engraved on some with announcements from the heart.

It was indeed a joy to find these kind invitations welcoming community involvement.

May we all be touched by love and kindness and remember to never miss opportunities to pass love and kindness to others.

“LOVE AND KINDNESS ARE NEVER WASTED. THEY ALWAYS MAKE A DIFFERENCE . THEY BLESS THE ONE WHO RECIEVES THEM, AND THEY BLESS YOU, THE GIVER.” – Barbara De Angelis

I am now inspired to have a painting party to create some rocks to add to the displays. Here is one rock I have in progress.

  1. That was very inspiring. The rocks made me think of you instantly. Thank you for sharing 🙂

    • You are welcome. It is definitely right up my ally. It was nice to feel encouraged to decorate and share some more rocks with those around me in order to spread a little love and kindness.

    • A little ripple of kindness and love has the potential to spread a long way.
